    Fabulous

The way rooms are designed is smart and cute. I love the antique feeling of the whole area.

My single room is too small.

  • 8.2
    Fabulous

Although the rooms are small they are clean, well designed and a little funky, which I liked and the restaurant was excellent. The location, history and rate were also a big plus.

The room (superior double) was possibly a little small if my husband had been travelling with me.

    Superb

Nice...The room facilities are unexpected, as all are famous branding. Quite comfortable with that, but just too small for the size.

general is clean, but the toilet has some dirty at the corner.

  • 8.2
    Fabulous

The location in Chinatown was excellent--near many interesting areas and close to the MRT. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. The plumbing all worked as it should.

It helped to be small--the person on the far side of the bed had to tread carefully to get out. The sliding glass door on the bathroom was an odd design choice. But the website said the rooms were small, so it wasn't a surprise.

    Superb

Staff was friendly and helpful; rooms were clean and location is quite good. No serious complaints.

The (single) room was quite cramped and the toilet was inside the shower cabin (impossible to take a shower without drenching the toilet -- not sure how this is supposed to work).

  • 8.8
    Superb

Kind and helpful staff. Everything was clean and in order. Well organanised. The room are very small, but everything was there, and a lot of space to put luggage under the bed. Close to the MRT(metro), and buses. Five minutes walk to chinatown. The area where the hotell are located are beautiful with all old houses around.. A lot of fancy restaurants and bars for people who can afford a meal for at least S$200. So if you would like to have a good, cheap meal, go to Chinatow. Breakfast just Ok! Very cheap to go by taxi. We are very pleased with our stay at Hotel 1929. Thank you!

We cannot find anything to complain about.

    Superb

Wonderful design hotel right in the middle Chinatown. Great service and location.

The rooms are quite small and doesn't come cheap.

  • 7.8
    Fabulous

Rooms were clean and nicely made. Good use of tiny space.

Rooms would definitely be better without the tight squeeze in the shower. Basin should be placed inside the washroom. Jacuzzi didn't look clean.

  • 7.8
    Fabulous

    Great location and clever design.

The airconditioner was leaking. The staff was attentive to the extent they could be.

  • 6.6
    Good

The location was excellent, in a beautiful neighbourhood of Chinatown appx. one block from the MRT and near a handful of hawker centres. Most staff members were generally helpful, especially in arranging outings and directing guests to city services, and the breakfast staff did their best to handle the crowd. The free drinks and local telephone calls were also a nice feature.

As others have mentioned, the rooms are quite small--even doubles. Whilst this may not be an issue for couples or families, it might be for groups or friends. The bed does occupy most of the room space, though it does mean a good night's sleep. It would have been nice if the adjacent restaurant had not closed so early and been closed on Sunday. We also did not see the rooftop jacuzzi--not clearly marked for access.

  • 6.2
    Good

The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English and the breakfast was quite good

We had a deluxe double and the bed was really too small for two people but ideal for one person. You also have to be very comfortable with the person you're staying in the room with as it's very small and you don't get a lot of privacy in the bathroom! It was also very noisy (drunk people on sat night/sun morning and bells in the temple/church sun morning) so we didn't really get any sleep at all!

  • 9.6
    Exceptional

The staff are wonderful and together with the design ,I would return.

  • 9.6
    Exceptional

Free soft drinks in the fridge, excellent helpful staff, location is a couple of minutes from the end of the road where all the Chinatown food/shops/markets area, cool hotel with nice decor, clean, safe well lit area with other hotels and tourists about

The rooms can be small but I stayed on my own and found the size fairly big, however, some may find them small if a couple and spend a lot of time in the room. Most rooms appear to be on the road side and although not a busy road, there is the odd truck/people going by during the night, didn't bother me but if you are a very light sleeper you may want ear plugs. Worth noting it was Halloween weekend so maybe quiet other times. No issues that would stop me staying there again

    Guest rating

good location and enjoyable to rediscover chinatown again.

i stayed on second floor near the lift and could hear housekeeping staff and other guests talking at the lift. In the night, the bar next to the hotel has guests staying till wee hours and were making a lot of noise especially so on a Friday night.

    Very good

Hotel 1929 is good hotel in an interesting part of Singapore. The hotel has great design and the architecture of the building and street are superb.

The rooms are too small. Opt for a double to have enough space. There is very little room to put any of your belongings in the room so it's somewhat uncomfortable from that perspective. It can be a bit noisy too. Breakfast needs a major overhaul.
